Went to The Philharmonic Winds "An American Portrait" concert today... Met wilson, kenneth and the rest at Hougang MRT @ 3.30... Took to Dhoby Ghuat, then to City Hall... Walked around City Link mall was rather hungry, go pop by 7-eleven to buy some snacks.. Got mentos, mashed potato, and a drink... 7-eleven's mashed potato is rather cheap, $1, but pales to KFC's... Rather prefer KFC's mashed potato, even though its more expensive.. Was walking halfway when I lost them.. Was about 4.35 then, only had a faint idea of how to get to Victoria Concert Hall...Walked back to the MRT station, not there, then called clement... He said they were already there... Asked him how to get there, just briefly mentioned Esplanade... So rushed to the Esplanade, got my bearings... Wrong side of the road... Rushed through the underpass, ran towards the direction of the hall... Got there about 4.50, 10 mins before it starts... Was perspiring abit, rested outside the hall for awhile... Noticed quite a lot of band people there.. Got seated with the rest of the group, mainly the ex-co... The rest of the band got stall seats.. Mr Ng also there..
Concert started... Overture to Candide, classical american music.. Sorta a march, quite difficult, sight read before... Especially like the clarinet, very clear and bright sound...
A Movement For Rosa.. Heard before, and the Philharmonic has delivered it nicely...Mark Camphouse really portrayed the racial discrimination of Rosa Parks very apporiately... The ending is the one is find most meaningful, ends without a clear resolution.. Sorta a reminder that the battle for racial equality still continues.. *side note: Rosa Parks was the one who refused to give up her seat on a bus for a white man, sparking the Civil Rights movement*
Then the next 2 piece utterly blew me away, Concerto & Concertino for solo alto sax.. Never knew the alto sax could be so beautiful, also didn't know it can reach so high notes... Timothy must be more amazed, he's the SL of course...
Second half of the concert equally good.. Especially like Godzilla Eats Las Vegas... Very funny, mere words can't justify it.. Gotta see it for yourself to enjoy it...
Then went to PS.. Met thomas ,aka fat hobbit, on the mrt, so decided to go together... Went to Music Plaza to see some stuff... Actually wanted to buy a ligature for my Eb clarinet... but had no time... Anyway, ate, went to arcade, went home... Today was a rather enjoyably day.. still haven't done my homework...

Had band practice today... Left my instrument, file in school... So just brought along a bottle.. (You get thirsty playing the clarinet you know) Helped take attendence for the sec 2s, then its full band practice. Sec 1s joining us, but i doubt they can play.. Moved the sec 2s to 2nd clarinet, gavilan to 1st to accommadate the sec 1s... Guess they were pretty lost during the practice, so I reshuffled the arrangement... Sec 1s sit in between seniors, so now they can at least ask the seniors at which bar are we... Speaking of seating arrangement, had to submit to Mr Ng the arrangement.. Had to make a mixed arrangement.. Sec 3s had a meeting with Mr Ng, basically, what he wanted from us was a new system of administration and SYF 2005.. Came back home, slept till about 9pm, totally energetic now...

Can't believe I didn't use a computer for 2 whole months... I should get some sort of medal for this... Com finally fixed and now everything's back to normal. Dad came back from the middle east 3 weeks ago, was all dark and stuff... Bought back some arabic products, perfumes, gum etc... Montfiesta 7 came and left, too fast... 5th July, one month before.. Was rather ok... Our playing was rather good, however, the audience was disappointing... Knew it was a bad idea to invite the whole school to come.. Gave out the tickets to everyone on the previous friday, supposedly it would be a full house.. But hey, some were so smart as not to come... "Pondang"... So the hall was half filled... Even when we were playing our pieces, i could clearly hear people talking, whispering, being restless... No concert etiquette at all... Disruptive even... Conductor had to wait till they were somewhat quiet before he could even begin... I think this would be the first concert for many of them... Especially during VooDoo.. When the lights dimmed, people started screaming, making funny noises... THIS IS THE ESPLANADE DAMN IT! At one part of VooDoo, we had to scream, (VooDoo not much playing, more of acting, using torchlight and sound effects... Suppose to be "scary".. Again audience too noisy, can't even hear the percussion) audience also screamed.. Already had expected that... Second half of the concert, I noticed many more seats were empty... Was very insulted by that, leaving before it finished... Hopefully, Montfiest 8 would be better....
