woke up not long ago... damn tired from the whole day out yesterday.. went for photog's outing in the morning, followed by NJC's Funtasia and my own walkabout..
the feel from waking up on Saturday morning is totally different from waking up on any other day of the week.. there's a sense of anticipation and excitement, sorta like when your parents were bringing you out to your first visit to the zoo.. the zoo I've been to quite a number of times, the botanic gardens I've been to twice, but this time's different..
met at orchard mrt at 8.45, then went off at 9.. went in via Minden Gate, the reverse from what I did.. anyway, tried the dSLRs..

was grouped with Sean, he was also there for the Dragonboat Fun Race.. the 350D with the 1.8 50mm lens really can compare to my S2, very compact.. the shutter sound also much nicer, gives you a satisfying "click" sound when you take a pic.. but obviously, you can't use the LCD screen for framing, can't take videos and the pictures you take might not turn out the way you see in the viewfinder.. probably would wait till Canon comes up with the successor to the 350D before I would consider making my move into the dSLR realm.. I'm quite satistfied with my current step-up...
anyway, we went on into the Orchid Gardens.. a must-go for any trip to the gardens..

ok.. the last pic may not be an orchid, but its interesting.. but still can't get the nice out-of-focused background the dSLR can.. still can distinguish some shapes even at max aperture, compared to the creamy smooth shade of green the dSLR can produce..
took some fun shots while we were there too..

no idea what were they doing for the last 2 pics.. spotted the ever allusive squirrel on a high branch.. quickly changed the lens for the 350D and snapped away.. damn fast, probably half the shots were nothing.. it daringly jumped from tree to tree to escape us.. if we had a faster lens with the 30D's burst mode, could probably capture it in mid-air.. that would be damn cool..
and before you know it, its already noon.. went out with some of the photog people to play pool.. lost like 3 time in a row, guess shots with the camera aren't the only shots they are good at.. won a few time though, but only due to Hui Yen helping me hit 3 of my balls.. I've seen double shots but a triple shot and all 3 are your opponent's balls? nice...
went to taka with them to eat, was starving after not eating breakfast.. then went to behind taka to take 171 to NJC Funtasia.. not very familar with that area of Singapore, so mostly based on my gut feeling on where to alight.. has yet to fail me yet, so got to NJC around 3.15.. the school's quite nice, cept for the narrow linkway to the bustop.. was suppose to meet Bernadette at the canteen, and I had no idea where the canteen was.. was expecting a more square shaped area with lotsa tables and chairs... turns out I walked past the canteen.. the canteen's more of a long rectangular shape with a splendid view overlooking the field.. nice.. could see myself just sitting there watching the people on the field if I somehow got in..
Bernadette was wearing her orange class tee, so spotted her straight away as she walked in my direction.. but somehow, she turned back.. met up eventually.. gave me a little tour of the campus.. very nice and big.. probably would get lost on the first day here..
her class was doing a games stall, one of the games was sorta shouting/screaming game, to see who can shout/scream the loudest, the get some prize.. complete with the decibel meter and all.. attracted lotsa attention if you can imagine.. got me a drink and she had to go off for a concert already..
found out that 74 and 156 also passes by NJC.. 156 also passes by NYJC and CJC.. took 74 back, had my cams with me, and I didn't feel like going home so early, so alighted at MacRitchie..

saw this cute brother and sister pair(I assume).. they were like holding hands and skipping together.. so sweet and innocent.. wished I had a childhood like that.. also saw quite a number of couples and families in the reserve.. then there's me, all alone.. just thought of the things we would be doing if I had a gf.. walks in the park, watching the sun set, things that I'm currently doing alone.. not that I've not many female friends, probably more than than you would expect someone from an all-boys school for 10 years.. just haven't found the one yet I guess...
anyway, some monkeys came while I was resting.. literally monkeys, the Long-tailed Macaque (Macaca fascicularis) if you wanna be more specific and not what you call your playful little cousins..

don't be fooled by those placid looks.. they can be quite crazy at times.. a pair did a quickie infront of me.. incase you don't know what that means, there's a more vulgar 4 letter word starting with F.. damn sick.. they just hang around there, scratching, helping each other to scratch etc.. the occasional fights.. in short, not bothering me.. would be very much different if I were to bring out some food stuff from my bag.. after awhile, they got bored and moved away..
went over to the other side of MacRitchie, where the fishing area was.. people fishing, families enjoying the Saturday evening..

just makes me smile seeing how much fun they were having.. reminded me of the times that I used to spend with my dad and how much that has changed.. took some last shots of the evening light before I went.. just a simple panaorama..
