been quite busy for Open House.. so glad thats its over, thanks everyone for making it a sucess!
had our special post promos timetable from wed, which consist only of PW and Chinese.. Thurs had the Rangoli competition organised by the ICS, Kian Hwee, Hui Yen and Melissa were covering it.. for those who don't know what Rangoli is, its basically coloured rice art.. the class was doing their design while I had to rush off to collect some photos..
was meeting Lam to collect the photos I troubled him to print.. Thanks Lam! got 3 consecutive calls once I stepped into Serangoon MRT.. First Tricia called to ask me where was I, the class wanted to take a pic with their design, told her to ask any one of the photographers there.. Regina called next within 10 secs of hanging up, asked me about the photos which I was suppose to print, told her I was going to collect them now... then finally, less than 10 secs later Lam called to ask me where was I.. wah
anyway, met Lam at Little India, he was going to Sim Lim to buy something I think.. rushed back to school and passed the photos to Regina.. then went to meet up with the rest of photog to do up the posters for tomorrow..

anyway, just provided the background picture and Zhi Kai did the rest.. oh yea, in case you are wondering, other than the border effect the background picture is not photoshopped at all..

the original pic..
went to the darkroom to cut the cardboard backings for the poster.. the gals went to get the poster stamped by the SC first.. took out the velcro backing for the exhibition pics and added on blu-tack.. initially thought the display board was those furry kinds but turns out its not..

anyway, woke up early on Friday.. well, not exactly early, but my usual waking up time for school.. but since we only have to be in school by 9, its considered early.. baked some cookies that I've wanted to bake but didn't find the time to do it.. baked about 40 I think... tried a different route to school, took 147 from the interchange to serangoon central.. met JJ at the interchange there, he was taking 153 to school.. the brand new wheel-chair accessible 147.. only a few people boarded the bus so the whole 2nd deck was to me.. hahaa.. the interior smells like the brand new car smell, the 2nd deck also has more headroom.. good news for taller people I guess..
went to the mac at central to have my breakfast.. strolled to school and arrived close to 8.. one of the few times coming to school so relaxed.. had PW tutorial at 9, went to the com lab to finish our WR.. so 2 hours just passed in a snap.. went to the band room for the run through of the day's programme.. we were performing after CO which was about 2.15..
went to help set up the photog booth during the break we had.. had 11 photos on exhibit, 5 from Xin Li, 3 from Zhi Kai and 3 from me.. Forged Elemental and Pulse of the Night which I've entered for SYPA and one taken during Racial Harmony.. we cracked our heads just to think of a title, came up with lotsa combinations and crappy titles, but eventually settled with Clique/Click! think FE attracted the most views out of my 3, the most common response I heard was "wah!/hey!/huh? what is that?" some of my tutors also came to comment..
soon it was 2 and we were waiting for our turn to perform.. played Shrek Dance Party and Instant Concert.. think it was only an average performance, but we did had lotsa fun playing the pieces.. the brass quintet did their piece next, arranged by Leon.. Annie didn't seem that confident playing..
then helped to cover the rest of the open house once we finished..

tried out the fisheye lens for event coverage.. found Kai Wen's game's station.. some sort of scrabble game.. wanted to have the bottom up kinda shot, but didn't have a chance.. the photographer from the same company that did our class photos also came.. had some really nice shots, probably would appear in the school annual or something..
the response for the photography competition was lukewarm.. only about 30+ people signed up.. but we had to give away the prizes anyway..
before you know it, its already 5pm.. went back to the bandroom only to find the band sitting though one of Mr Neo's "lectures".. think what he said was quite true.. we depend too much on hoping to get good J1s next year through the open house in hope of getting something good for SYF.. have to have a strong central core of J2s next year when the J1s come in, think that was what I felt when I first stepped into cj band..
