Raining heavily as I type now... 35 more mins before Zhi Hong chiongs down to his nearest cinema to watch an NC16 movie.. haha.. also Ming Wei's Birthday today.. Happy Birthday Ming Wei..
went to the Zoo and Night Safari today.. long time I've been to the Zoo.. last was pri 5 or 6... changed the entrance.. no longer had the macaws at the entrance.. a fountain sraying a jet of water 10m into the air now greets visitors... bought tickets to both the Zoo and Night Safari.. cheaper if you buy them together.. had lunch at KFC there... was already 3pm when we entered.. walked as usual.. few new additions to the Zoo since I last went there.. the new white tiger habitat, the new elephants of asia exhibit.. new restaurants and koi pond..
went to the kangaroos enclosure.. wasn't as much fun as it was in Australia.. although there were fewer kangaroos and wallbies, got to get near them, feed them and even pet them... it was hard getting near them though, hopped away at first sight.. managed to get close to one.. but that was 4 years ago, in 2001.. watched the sealion show at 5.. was a peacock wandering around the seating area before the show
12 midnight.. 15th May 2005 already.. Happy Birthday Zhi Hong!now where were we.. nothing new about the sealion show... saw it before lotsa times.. saw more animals after the show ended at about 5.30.. went to the fragile forest enclosure.. spotted a baby ringtailed lemur clinging onto its mother's back..
saw a quotation that I felt was very inspiring.. "Only after the last tree has been cut down. Only after the last river has been poisoned. Only after the last fish has been caught. Only then will you find money cannot be eaten." really sums up how fragile our planet is and our human action against nature..
went over to the Night Safari at about 6.30.. restaurents there were open, so went there to eat.. spotted another peacock at the carpark.. dunno whether's the same peacock in the amphitheatre... its sheen looks alittle different though..
first time going to the Night Safari, didn't know what to expect.. ate at Bongo Burgers first.. the burgers were nice.. doesn't taste so processed as Mcdonalds, more meat too.. more expensive too.. $9 for a set, but the drink quite big.. almost like a super-big gulp.. the drink so super expensive also.. $4 for a 500ml bottle of coke?? can buy 2 1.5litre bottles for $4.. bringing my own drinks the next time I come..
went to take a picture with an albino burmese python.. was $5 and the money went to the conservation fund, so why not.. better then a $4 coke right? he was very smooth and dry, not slimy like people think it of.. was also very muscular, and kinda heavy.. maybe 5 or more kgs? fun..
walked along the trails first.. the queues for the tram were super long.. if it were any longer, it could reach the zoo... couldn't use flash, so had to use me tripod.. more exposure, less shaky hands.. although the animals moved before the 4 seconds were up.. walked the entire route before returning to the entrance there.. the tram route covers some exhibits that are not accessible by foot.. so took the tram ride anyway.. interesting 45 min ride.. liked the part where they went through cm deep water.. came back at 9pm.. thought we were just in time for the 9pm creatures of the night show.. but it was packed to the brim when we got there.. so no choice but to wait for the 10pm show.. went to have a bite first... like $6 for 6 pieces of satay? and for those maths whizzes out there, its 3.33333333 times more expensive then your average satay..
went back in at 9.30.. got some people there already, but not as packed as 9.. didn't finish the whole show.. half-way along the show, it started to drizzle alittle a few people left.. we stayed for awhile, just to watch.. then rained more heavily, lucky we reached the shelter before it turned into a full downpour... felt like a rock show.. lotsa light effects, lotsa loud noise and lotsa bangs...
got to be the heaviest downpour this year... the sky was holding up all day.. look like it was going to rain when we arrived at the zoo.. wonder how it would be like in the walking trails at night when it starts to rain.. hmm.. wouldn't want to be there...
visibility was quite bad... look like a fog just descended upon Singapore... thats how intense the rain was.. reached back home still raining, but less heavy... this it stopped already... yup.. tiring day today...
