our school ELDDS had their first concert/performance,

Renaissance Night.. Ms Ong kept bugging me to buy tickets the whole week, so just bought 2..
met Bernadette at Hougang MRT and walked to school.. she's also in ELDDS so she wanted to see what other school's ELDDS was capable of..
alot of my band people were also there, mostly the sec 3s I think.. the trio that went with me to Senzoku Gakuen concert were also there.. Desmond, Max and Marrisa.. the only person I spotted from my class was Fook.. he was with his usual friends..
the performance took along time to start.. stated there on the tickets it starts at 7.30pm.. but only till like 7.40 did it start..
the first half wasn't that good.. the change of scenes also took a long time.. the only interesting thing was the poetry recital.. the audience was laughing at the rather convincing "girl" on stage.. second half was much better, with the alumni people doing a modern "A Merchant from Venice".. very funny.. like the scene where the servant give the master a stool for him to stand on, so that he'll be taller than the person he's confronting.. haha.. maybe Yubin should do that.. got some technical problems with the sound system and all, not the first time it has happened in the school hall before..
ended with a violin recital of Hungarian Dance No 5.. the whole orchestra version much better, more excitement.. but his rendition was still good.. the performance end at 10pm.. saw Bernadette to the bus stop and went home..

I dunno why I deserve this.. I mean this school.. who cares whether its value-added or in the top 50, I mean the people make up the school, not grades or achievements.. well, while writing the Compo on "My Secondary School Life", gave me a deep regret of coming here in the first place.. it was stupid with my 242 aggregate to put Montfort Sec as my first choice.. maybe I should have followed my neighbour and went to Maris Stella.. the people there can't be any worse..
one basic thing seriously lacking in this school is RESPECT.. not talking about respecting school property or such, but the basic respect of others.. and we are suppose to be a catholic school.. isn't "Love thy neighbour" one of the main ideas?
and 4E1, its time to wake up.. all our teachers have been giving us signs.. signs that we often don't see because of the disillusion weaved by our friends.. I dunno what's worse, a bigger sized guy bullying another guy or the ganging up personal attack.. if you keep looking for a person's faults and flaws, thats what you'll only see.. one thing that heavily influences your perception is really your peers.. somesort like our colour perception.. Mr Low's been telling us to keep quiet all these while, with his sudden bursts effecting only a few days.. Mr Tan also been having problems, like the one with a certain someone today.. PE there is always a automatic fractionalization although Mr Faizan put us in groups.. these has alot to do with human psychology I agree, but why can't we just work together as a class? put aside of differences and work towards a common goal, ie the "O" levels? which is like only 4 months away? when will we realize?

just burn my name away..

11am.. "Why is the class so quiet?" JJ said in a innocent and naive voice.. "THATS THE WAY I LIKE IT! QUIET! I've been putting up with this for 2 years and I'm this close to snapping."
kinda know what Mr Low was feeling today.. had something similar happening with the clarinet section some weeks before SYF.. then he tries to continue teacher, writing on the board.. then he just walks out of the door.. whole class was stunned into silence? yar, and Wei Xun was down there laughing for dunno what reason he found it funny.. Addison went out to check on him.. after awhile, he just came back and continued with relative velocity.. this isn't the first time he had done that... dunno whats wrong with my class, doesn't seem to get the message..

now at the new National Library.. freaking quiet, even the sound of the mouse clicking can be heard..

the courtyard @ level 5
anyway, didn't sleep since the last post.. then went cycling at about 7.30.. another relaxing Sunday Morning.. lesser people excersicing though, mostly they come at 6 something.. actually Jill wanted to come to the library also, but she got some baby's first month party she needed to attend.. so went to Woodland's one instead..
met her at 10 for breakfast.. had LJS, the toast thing.. the coffee like no taste, added 4 packets of sugar still not to my liking.. think plain water's better.. then went opposite to the library.. brought along my laptop (then what do you think I'm using now..) couldn't find a available table to use.. *just met my uncle and his wife.. haha.. what a coincidence.. back to the blog, so we just found this big circular cushion and sat.. showed her the recent pics of the racial harmony celebration and other pics.. then suddenly something came flying and hit my laptop.. some girl had trip over the power cable of another laptop user and the cable just went flying.. some people really need to pay more attention on where they are walking.. luckily only hit the side/back of the screen.. leaving a scratch.. argh!
so took the MRT to bugis after she left.. and so here I am now.. getting kinda hungry though.. haven't eaten my lunch..

just woke up from a tiring day... had flag day today (well, yesterday considering its past 12 midnight now) reported to school at about 9.45.. think 3 classes were doing the flag day, we were the only sec 4 class there, the rest were sec 3.. most of my classmates there already, so just waited for a few before Mr Low distributed the bags.. it was for Presbyterian Community Service, childcare services, old-folks home, churches etc.. wonder what would happen if we went around asking for donations for NKF.. hmm..

tried asking Jason to come with me like we did last year, but he was more interested in going with his "group".. Lian Jie had a big group following him to Compass Point, so theres no point going.. too many people at a particular spot isn't good.. so just walked to Hougang Point, don't think anybody would go there.. intially I felt I couldn't do it.. kept telling myself I can't do it alone then also felt a deep sadness.. but after a few successful donations, that made me ever more determined.. sorta ignited the fire in me..
worked till 11.30 at hp before I decided to move to a new location.. by this time I had the amount some people would collect during their entire 5 hrs.. the weight in my hand was a great feeling.. took 72 to YCK Mrt station.. stood at the walkway to the station where the buses alight people.. the donations weren't as constant as hp's but got lots more people walking by.. mainly I just wait till a bus came and unload a swarm of people.. the walkway's quite long and straight, so people could see from a distance and prepare their spare change already.. hah..
was quite good business until some sec 3s came.. took the Mrt to Yishun.. again, at the walkways.. were some Cedar Girls doing the same flag day, but don't mind the competition.. so stayed around Yishun Mrt there for some time.. found out there was a hole at the side when a coin dropped out.. wasn't much of a problem, just didn't move the bag around so much its OK.. a coin would drop out if you shake it though..
returned to AMK to try to finish the half page of stickers.. AMK was easiest by far.. lotsa people.. had 3 of my 5 $2 notes there.. in the end, some people still wanted to donate even though I ran out of stickers.. was about 2.20 whe I finished all 150 stickers.. regretted not coming with another person.. then would have extra stickers if I ran out.. took my time to reture to school with that heavy bag.. think there's more than 2kg worth of coins in there? met up with some of my classmates back in school.. was suprised they still have so many stickers left.. signed the form and rested my tired legs.. standing for 5 hours is tiring you know..
I do admit, this was a wasted bonding opportunity..

had our Montfort-a-fair today.. our annual Racial Harmony celebration fair.. has pleasantly suprized to see all my classmates wearing the class t-shirt.. suddenly felt a strong sense of unity as I walked into the classroom.. was partly my idea, cause this year the school's giving every graduating class a page in the school annual to design..
had the fair after the hall assembly.. was a play entitled "Excuse me? Are you Singaporean?" damn funny and thought provoking at the same time.. wasn't really much food left when the upper sec got down.. food wasn't amazingly good or anything, not filling.. not much variety unlike last year's, where we got western food and meals.. this year was more like snacks..
main attraction amongst the games gotta be the dunking machine.. its been a tradition already.. our class didn't set up a stall.. at least we could roam about without having to be tied down by responsibilities..
went back to class at about 12.30..

Tsar Binny the 3rd!
David was fooling around with Jun Feng's eyeliner.. went to drew a curly moustache for Yu Bin, made him look more Russian to me.. Like some Tsar.. then took the class pics with the help of Jun Xian..

4E1 2005!!
would be brain-storming for designs over this week end for our page..

roughly translates to..
just found out how to input chinese characters on my com.. but too late already.. chinese "O" levels exams over.. if only that person told me how to use eariler, then I can improve my chinese.. at the beginning of the year I already thought about blogging in chinese.. but dave would have problems reading it.. using chinese to type is time consuming, spent 15 mins just to type 4 lines.. hiaz.. (took me less than 2mins to type all these?)

had a maths test today.. on Transformation, Probability and Statisics.. Alow gave his funy last question again.. Now that we have completed the entire Maths syllabus, which was your favourite topic? Expain. (2) others in the past included, What's acute angle in malay? I won't be suprized if he gave an essay question "Maths is FUN. Discuss.".. then told us specifically not to write "it's easy" for the explaination.. his way of asking for opinion I guess.. hmm..
Probability probably (now thats a mouthful, try saying those 2 words) is the most interesting and yet useless chapters? so I know whats my chances of getting matching socks from my drawer.. and if I ever picked coloured balls from a bag at random I would look into the bag first.. yar, it can be appiled to real life, just like Permutations and Combinations in Amaths.. don't think its very useful.. unless you're playing Russian Roulette, when your life depends on it..
another episode of "irreconcilability" happened during PE..

nothing really to blog over the weekend.. pretty boring.. today's Wilson's Birthday.. Happy Birthday Wilson! the start of the week again.. looking forward to Friday's Montaffair, the annual fair we hold every year to raise funds.. set up stalls selling food, games, you get the picture.. would be much better if we opened it up to the public, more people coming in and can get our other school friends to come.. :D
Mr Low blew it over the eddison/addison issue during the first period.. eddi was snatching addy's phone and addy was making a big fuss.. "Eddison! Return him his phone! Stop behaving like children. It's already the middle of July and exams are few weeks ahead..." well, I think Mr Low has a point.. some people in our class should get their priorities right.. can't believe they still playing Dota and whatever games now.. not paying attention and talking's the number 1 crime we all are guilty of.. Heng Tee's always talking about games with me, then I can't really concentrate.. I admitt it, I also talk.. somehow, all the questions he gets wrong I get correct and vice-versa.. but he's really productive when Mr Low gives us time in class to do our work.. learn alot from each other..
a similar thing happened during Physics.. yet another teacher has complains about us.. ate 15 mins into our recess time to give us his "speech".. I think the main problem with our class is there are too many groups or what you call "cliques".. the same people always sits together no matter what the lesson it.. even though we may be moving from one classroom to another.. it happens.. then they indulge themselves in their own world of "current affairs" as Mr Tan puts it.. there's no sense of a study attitude in our class, and those who do are labelled as KS? not refering to anybody or group of people.. the best solution is not let us choose our own seat and basically mix people around.. think thats the only way people would concentrate on the lesson is to put somebody you're not particularly familar with.. thats was what Mrs Pereria tried to do..

just came back from chinese listening comprehension.. was held in Sc 7, Sgt Geok's class.. Jun Feng was damn lucky lor.. got to sit right infront of the radio.. was playing classical music before the test start.. played Gabriel's Oboe from Morricone Melody.. last time I heard that was when Gabriel actually played that one his oboe.. memories.. the lc was broadcasted over 92.4FM, so whole of Singapore simultaneously took the test? 1st passage was about smoking, 2nd was about NY winter and school, 3rd was something about parents and children and 4th was about chat hotline.. all the question very similar.. tricky.. hope I don't make too many mistakes

jun feng doing some last min preparation for listening compre..

Warning! the last pic may be alittle graphic.. if you can't stand the sight of blood or a real heart (not those lovely dovely 2 Cs facing each other) just skip the next section.. if not read on.. don't say I didn't warn you..

had our first dissection in bio pract yesterday.. examined a sheep's heart.. can't use pig's heart cause Mr Azman malay? must be halal.. haha.. the back row people came up first.. cause got only 3 hearts and whole class can't come up at the same time? was sitting at the first row with Lian Jie and Zhi Hong, so did the other 2 experiments first.. looked at a blood smear through the microscope.. quite hard to focus on it.. at the lowest magnification was just some fuzzy dots.. at highest mag was clearer.. but still quite small.. little ovals with a darker centre.. the biconcave structure of a red blood cell.. then did the plant cell ones.. nicer.. could see clearly the individual cells.. took some pics with my K750i the nicest one's below..

part of a root.. very clear right? nice.. once again, auto-focus rocks! hmm, now can refer to the pics and do the worksheet.. draw and label the parts.. came to our turn to examine the heart..
first thing I noticed was the smell.. smelt like bloody sweaty vomit.. Mr Azman showed us the left and right atriums and ventricals, the chambers that pump blood.. and the vessels that lead out/in.. the vena cava, aorta etc.. most of us wasn't really listening to him.. were busy finding out for ourselves the various parts.. he also asjked us to feel the vessels, so we were sticking our fingers into the holes.. 2 was thicker, the aorta and pulmonary artery, and the other 2 was thinner. the vena cava and pulmonary vein.. (those not taking bio have no idea what I'm talking about right??)

pic below...

got heart?

went for Senzoku Gakuen Wind Ensemble's concert today... met Max and Desmond outside school and walked to the MRT station along with Ray.. Max and Desmond like wear the exact same clothes? Black button-shirt with white inside and blue jeans.. later Marissa mixed up Max with Desmond? haha.. Ray went home and us 4 took the MRT to Dhoby Ghuat, then change to City Hall.. was waiting at Dhoby Ghuat for the train and the PA system keep looping the "Attention all passengers, please do not leave your belongings unattended. If you see any suspicious article, please inform our station staff or call 999. Thank you." in Eng, Chi, Malay and Tamil 3 times continually..
Reached City Hall at exactly 7pm.. Max and I bought some super-expensive sandwich, which you could easily make at home and continued towards Esplanade.. got into the concert hall 10 mins before it starts.. met Joel when going up.. he had like the whole entire range of the WASBE concerts for free? complimentary of his SNYO thing.. came to the esplanade 2 times before and this is the first time I'm coming as an audience member.. haha..
the ensemble quite big.. has 2 bass clarinets and a contra-alto clarinet.. and whole clarinet section all gals.. the first half was mostly alot of symphonic piece.. first song was Salty Music.. one of the clarinets, probably the principal player stands up and tunes with the band.. then suddenly starts the piece.. also got alot of places where the whole band stop suddenly, then a Concert A solo note. then continue again.. kinda funny.. bought a WASBE handphone strap during the intermission.. $2.. quite cheap, have a hard time taking my phone out of my pocket, so bought it.
the last piece was the best.. A Jupiter Fantasy.. composed and conducted by Yasuhide Ito.. based on Gustav Holst's Jupiter from the Planets series.. the beginning was quite a few solos, including a clarinet solo introducing the main theme from Jupiter.. then suddenly half way through the piece, one of the "percussionist" steps up and takes over the resident conductor's place.. didn't know that was Mr Ito.. changed into a dance/swing tempo.. he got the us (the audience) to clap along.. fun.. and great solos by the Soprano Sax, Trumpet and Euphonium... and the ending was very style.. goes to a slow part and the conductor turns around and moves his fingers across the wind chimes.. unusual, but nice.. most likely the main reason I'll buy the recording is because of this song..
Met Mr Leng outside the hall after the concert.. he had to fetch some people home so he went off first.. so Me, Max, Desmond, Marissa and Joel went outside to take some pics..

was this GIANT "I WAS HERE" word outside the Esplanade.. some kind graduate helped us to take the pic.. a better one would be "I PERFORMED HERE" that not many people can say that.. took a nice MRT ride home to end the wonderful evening..

just came back from a morning cycle.. slept the the whole of last night.. woke up only at about 1am.. cooked some instant noodles, watched TV, chatted with Jill about me being too stiff, browsed through Friendster, did my A Maths homework, and before you know it, its 5am.. the newspapers just came, read my fav section of the week.. Digital Life.. hah.. then grabbed my bike and my handsfree set and went downstairs.. last time I got up so early to do some cycling was a Sunday Morning not too long ago..the Tuesday Morning air doesn't smell so bad.. more traffic because its a working day? cycled along Ciyuan park behind my house.. mostly aunties and ah-peks doing morning exercises and chi-gong.. listened to some radio along the way..
cycled round the neighbourhood.. kinda miss going to school early in the morning though, seeing all the students walking to school.. reminds me of the time I had the NTU attachtment.. had to wake up early to travel to NTU.. fastest was 2 hours.. at least I can cycle before coming to school..
gotta go bathe and prepare to go to school now..

nothing much happened this week end... Friday release early, so decided to go somewhere.. went home to bathe, then took 112 to Kovan.. went to the bowling centre to see yubin and the rest bowl.. only bowled twice before.. the first time was when Mrs Khoo treated the scrabble team for winning the Youth Scrabble Championship Challenge Cup.. not really good at bowling.. stayed there watch for awhile, then left.. met Shermann and Edward at the bus stop.. they meeting Yi Ming to go eat sake sushi.. took 107.. pretty much follows 147's route until Geylang Bahru there, where it turns left.. alighted opposite Raffles Hotel, then walked to Suntec City.. walked around the mall.. went to the arcade above carrefour.. broke my personal best for the World Combat game? got Lt Colonel.. and only used 2 credits?
so walked about after that.. accidentally stumbled upon the Sky Garden.. been to Suntec so many times and this is the first time I went to the Sky Garden..

lotsa couples and people smoking there.. kinda nice, sort of a mystical feeling to it, the fountain and the trees.. nice view of the surrounding area..
nothing much on Sat.. stayed at home all day..
today went to collect the tickets after we dropped my brother off for his movie.. went to Millenia Walk, cause there was a Sistic outlet there.. collected the 4 tickets for Wed.. then went over to Marina Square.. quite awhile since I last went there, last time I went there everything was under renovation? now quite nice, more intimate and modern looking.. then met Jimmy at the food loft.. he was with his family eating.. haven't seen him since M8..

nice view of the skyline from the open air area.. if only the trees and 2 giant fruits didn't block the view so much..

don't wanna turn this into a political blog or anything, but I feel this should be at least mentioned here.. most teenagers my age wouldn't bother reading the newspapers, or watching the news.. they rather watch some reality programme than the news.. the fact is, reality programmes are nothing a reflection of real life.. in turn, many teenagers are indifferent, even ignorant to the world around them..
the recent bomb blast in London really shows that no city in the world is escapable from terrorism.. the Singapore government has done a mighty fine job of keep our homes safe and we shouldn't take that for granted..

another normal day of school.. not! addy's back from his 2 day sick leave.. and JJ just stands up during Bio lesson and declares how he misses him?? oh my.. laughed till my sides ached.. yubin must be sad..
Mr Llyod Yeo (yes, he's one of the writers of the history textbook some of you may be using.. Inroads: Modern World History) didn't come today, so Physics Practical was pushed up.. did a practical about reflection.. you know, with pins and a mirror on a softboard? the pic below really shows the K750i's autofocus.. the mirror's infocus while the background and foreground's blur.. a technique which places more emphasis on the subject, in this case the mirror..
chinese period after recess.. Mr Teng asked some of us to come out and act out the text from the book.. David's real funny.. kept making sounds and touching himself.. then watched a VCD on the same text.. "Lei Yu" or roughly translates to thunder-storm/wind..

back in school after a 3 day break.. was suppose to prepare a 3 min speech for English Lesson during the 3 day "holiday".. all the even number reg no. people were told to go in first, sit in 4s then the odd people.. Mrs Peirera wanted to seperate the groups that always seem to form.. its like trying to mix mercury, water and oil by shaking the container.. they just somehow go to their own groups after awhile.. me being the universal solvent, just chose a random seat and sat..
dunno why Mrs Peirera always calls Yubin, doesn't seem to call others.. Yubin had to give a "warm-up" speech.. so he talked about his fav sub.. Russia and how it will rise again.. 9 yars, 1 umm, 1 ermm was the offical space-filler count by JJ.. YAR.. Slyvester was also asked to come up and speak.. blah blah blah, about what he'll do if he doesn't need to come to school.. go bowling etc.. So Sly could pick the next person to come up..
one thing in our class, when ever someone comes out and gets to choose the next person to come up, you can sorta guess who its gonna be.. so Sly chose Jan to come up next.. Jan talked about Singapore Idol, our chinese O level topic, except now in eng.. quite good.. Edison was up next and everyone was making guesses what he'll talk about.. perfume, prada, nail polish.. kinda unexpected when Mrs P wrote Theft on the whiteboard.. forgotten what he talked about, but knew it wasn't related to the topic at all.. about stupid people and janitors.. part speech, part personal attack.. if you know who I mean..
Wei Xun was barely audible, even though he was just 2-3m infront of me? hardly hear him speak in school, if at all.. reminded me of the "careless whisper" guy in Singapore Idol.. something about English Lesson and how its boring.. didn't know Wei Xun has so strong feelings against Eng lessons.. no prize for guessing who Wei Xun is gonna choose next.. him and Darren Teng are pratically inseperatable (correct spelling?).. well, Darren Teng's group at least.. so Dalton went up.. the best speech yet.. talked about soccer, was really able to keep the audience (us) interested.. "you don't see basketball players celebrate after every point they score.. each goal in soccer is much more meaningful.." something like that, not his actual words though..
English Lessons are fun..

watched War of the Worlds this youth day holiday.. met up with Lian Jie on the 88 to bishan.. show him how to see the software version of his phone, cause he says his software got some problems.. for those of you who have Sony Ericsson phones, just press right * left left * right *. that should bring you to the service menu.. didn't know eh? met up with Lam, Bernard, and Alvin.. the 5 of us went to MOS Burger to have a bite first.. was sitting next to the sink, then this guy comes and washes his hands.. so "considerately" flicks the water off his hands and guess who got wet? there are paper towels next to the sink?? some time later, a group of gals came to wash their hands.. prepared to get soaked already.. luckily, they used the paper towels, except for one.. argh.. Gerald, Keck, Jia Qing, Joachim met with us, then left to go somewhere else..
only met Jill about 10 mins before the movie.. Jill went downstairs to buy some stuff to eat, so shared pop-corn with Bernard.. me being more considerate than the man who flick water on me, waited outside for her while the others went in.. waited till 3.55, and the movie was 3.45? anyway, she said she'll go in by herself and I didn't want to miss any part of the movie.. she came in just in time for the movie.. Bernard was "kind" enough to switch seats with me, so that Jill sits on the outside next to me? think Ber just scared to sit with a gal.. ha..
the movie was great.. shared some pop-corn with her.. she was eating a pretzel, sour cream and onion.. never tried that before.. mostly go for Caramel Almond.. War of the Worlds gotta be amongst one of my favourite books, the movie was even better.. one thing thing that I'm not satisfied about the movie is the ending.. I've read the book by H. G. Wells before, yar, it stays true to the book.. but I feel its too sudden.. it must be hard for Spielberg to portray the aliens were defeated because of bacteria and virus? but he did a wonderful job.. if only he had made the ending alittle longer..
so everyone stayed outside delifrance there to settle the ticket money with Ber.. walked around with Jill after everyone dispearsed.. she planning to get a digicam, so went around with her to look at digicams.. saw the T-7 at Sony Gallery, stylish, but expensive? then went to Best.. just looked around at the gadgets on display.. first time walking around do nothing with someone.. usually just go alone.. appreciate the company..

had a BBQ at the chalet my cousins booked yesterday.. at changni village there.. the chalet was sort of a colonial bungalow, freaking big.. felt like I was transported back to the time when Singapore was still under the British.. if not for the air-conditioning, kitchen appliances, TV, fans, I actually would have believed I was in the 1930s.. walked around the area before the bbq started.. was a boardwalk some distant down, couldn't figure how to get down there though.. the view was just stunning from up here.. it was about 5.30 and the sun just filters through the clouds, with Johor in the background.. just stood there and amired the view for some time..

BBQ!
helped start the fire along with my cousin Dominic.. he's a scout so he should know stuff like starting fires? barbequed the usual stuff, chicken wings, satay, otah.. there was also kebab.. most of my cousins upstairs playing X-box, so there was still quite alot of food.. disappeared once they came down.. nothing much special about the bbq..
stayed over with some of my cousins.. there were 5 bedrooms and each one is like the size of my hall.. me and my brother shared a room, woke up at about 9 today.. had to go for tuition.. so just came back home..
