went for Senzoku Gakuen Wind Ensemble's concert today... met Max and Desmond outside school and walked to the MRT station along with Ray.. Max and Desmond like wear the exact same clothes? Black button-shirt with white inside and blue jeans.. later Marissa mixed up Max with Desmond? haha.. Ray went home and us 4 took the MRT to Dhoby Ghuat, then change to City Hall.. was waiting at Dhoby Ghuat for the train and the PA system keep looping the "Attention all passengers, please do not leave your belongings unattended. If you see any suspicious article, please inform our station staff or call 999. Thank you." in Eng, Chi, Malay and Tamil 3 times continually..
Reached City Hall at exactly 7pm.. Max and I bought some super-expensive sandwich, which you could easily make at home and continued towards Esplanade.. got into the concert hall 10 mins before it starts.. met Joel when going up.. he had like the whole entire range of the WASBE concerts for free? complimentary of his SNYO thing.. came to the esplanade 2 times before and this is the first time I'm coming as an audience member.. haha..
the ensemble quite big.. has 2 bass clarinets and a contra-alto clarinet.. and whole clarinet section all gals.. the first half was mostly alot of symphonic piece.. first song was Salty Music.. one of the clarinets, probably the principal player stands up and tunes with the band.. then suddenly starts the piece.. also got alot of places where the whole band stop suddenly, then a Concert A solo note. then continue again.. kinda funny.. bought a WASBE handphone strap during the intermission.. $2.. quite cheap, have a hard time taking my phone out of my pocket, so bought it.
the last piece was the best.. A Jupiter Fantasy.. composed and conducted by Yasuhide Ito.. based on Gustav Holst's Jupiter from the Planets series.. the beginning was quite a few solos, including a clarinet solo introducing the main theme from Jupiter.. then suddenly half way through the piece, one of the "percussionist" steps up and takes over the resident conductor's place.. didn't know that was Mr Ito.. changed into a dance/swing tempo.. he got the us (the audience) to clap along.. fun.. and great solos by the Soprano Sax, Trumpet and Euphonium... and the ending was very style.. goes to a slow part and the conductor turns around and moves his fingers across the wind chimes.. unusual, but nice.. most likely the main reason I'll buy the recording is because of this song..
Met Mr Leng outside the hall after the concert.. he had to fetch some people home so he went off first.. so Me, Max, Desmond, Marissa and Joel went outside to take some pics..

was this GIANT "I WAS HERE" word outside the Esplanade.. some kind graduate helped us to take the pic.. a better one would be "I PERFORMED HERE" that not many people can say that.. took a nice MRT ride home to end the wonderful evening..
