came to school the earliest ever on wed.. reached school almost 45 mins before it starts, had the luxury of strolling into school instead of quickening my pace.. wed had lotsa emotions for me.. if I were to draw the graph of my mood against time, it would have a negative gradient.. in simpler terms, a downward fall..
had our last PE lesson for the first period.. there would be a change in the time-table after next week.. more intensive revision considering its less than 40 days to the "O" levels now.. Mr Faizan let us play either basketball, soccer or badminton.. knowing my class, I can already tell who's gonna play what and who would be in who's team.. the sky was really blue in the morning light.. first time shooting a sports scene..

lian jie trying to do an alley-oop?
actually, the ball flew out as he was trying to dunk? no wonder NBA players are tall and slim.. haha..
then got back A Maths results.. then English and Lit.. all deprove.. practically all my grades either deprove or mantain, except for Comb. Humanities.. but thats nothing to boast about.. Chemistry A1 was kinda expected, nothing to be happy about..
met Kiong Tai on my way to the foyer.. at least he's sensitive enough to detect that I was upset about my grades.. sort of sat down against the pillar in the foyer and reflected, shed a tear or two.. where are friends when you need them, or do I have any at all..

phrase of the day:
饮水思源
change encoding to unicode if you can't see the words above..
incase you don't know chinese or you're taking CLB.. it directly translates to drink water think of source..
been browsing through friendster again.. reading some testimonals etc.. feel that Mr Ng said to me more than a year and a half ago is quite true.. I am a catalyst.. a bond forming catalyst to be precise.. I have always been bridging relationships, ie I found a new friend outside.. so thats 1 point of contact.. then I introduce to my friends, thats when it start propagating.. in the end, the get along so well, that they get further away from me, leaving me unchanged.. or does it? and its only a 1 way flow..

Mr Low talked to us about PAE and JAE today, since the prelims are over.. then asked us to write down our expected grades for the various subjects.. well, here are mine..
English - A2
Chinese - B4
Maths - A2
A Maths - B3
Chemistry - A1
Physics - A1
Biology - A2
Combine Humanities - B4
Literature - B3
that would make my L1R5 11, same as midyear.. minus 2 bonus points, 9 isn't that bad.. scared won't do so well for maths.. just don't get my hopes high at this moment, the results not fully released yet.. at least I know I'll do better in combine humanities for this prelims.. didn't know a thing for history structured for mid-year, so improved on that aspect for prelims.. improved by 8 marks, if my SS the same marks, then would get me a B4.. Chinese was also quite easy, more improvements..
yar but I'm not including these 2 subjects in my L1R5, so whats the use..

it just doesn't feel right.. with nobody by your side.. no one to depend on, except for yourself.. no one really knows me, and through the shroud of uncertainty does all those rumors start to arise.. if I don't talk to anyone, nobody would talk to me.. I can go without a single month with anybody message or call me.. maybe it's myself, as a saying goes: to make a friend, you first got to be a friend..
don't have the splurs of fame like some people do.. heck, nobody would even remember my birthday.. the last time I got any present from somebody other than my family was Pri 2..
anyway, today's Lam's Birthday .. had sort of a celebration after our Chem paper 1, though it wasn't our last paper yet.. still have A Maths 2 and Bio 1 tomorrow..
took some group pics..

the birthday boy
then sang a birthday song to him, and "helped" him to celebrate.. then all of the sudden, Shaun gets whacked.. haha and its not even his birthday or anything...
then just sorta followed them to Hougang Mall, went there to eat.. dunno why, but always feel hungry.. had fried rice with steak..
after eating, we all gathered again.. for Lam to open his presents.. Me, David, Dalton, Shuan and Yu Bin got him something from Watsons the day before.. it was something you wouldn't have guessed for a present.. Zhi Hong got him a custom made medal of some kind, with World's Best Friend engraved on it.. Gold-plated or is it just gold coloured..
it was time Lam opened our present.. Lam wasn't really shocked when he saw that he got shower gel for a present.. was more like "O... Shower Gel ar.."

lam and shaun posing with the shower gel..
it was Shaun's idea of getting shower gel, with free colgate somemore.. haha.. so stay and chatted and joked about how he can use his presents.. then dispersed just before it rained..

1st week of prelims over.. only left Chemistry and A Maths not taken yet.. Chinese paper on Friday was quite easy, should do way better than the june one.. something I'm glad about..
then went cycling with Heng Tee after the paper.. just to destress alittle after a week of exams.. cycled to Punggol End.. only have been there once during the last day of 2004.. looked alot different in daylight.. took a look at the rocks on the beach..

Heng Tee keeps telling me how he and his father comes here to catch crabs when he was young.. only saw a few tiny crabs hiding in the rocks.. took a few picture for him for his friendster account.. one involving him hiding somewhere in the rocks.. no prize for spotting him though..
Zhi Hong lived nearby so thought we would pay him a visit.. could remember what his house looks like, and roughly knew where it was.. but we past it a few times before we called Zhi Hong.. were looking for his house when my bike's chain got stuck? found out it was just opposite, so push it there to try to fix it.. with some force and lotsa orange scented hand cleaner, manage to get it working.. don't think Zhi Hong has many people just popping by, his house kinda hard to reach even for bungalow standards..

its already the last day of the holidays.. would be taking a week or so break from blogging cause of the prelims.. kinda stressed cause I wanna get into a good JC in Jan.. lets see how my holidays ended..
Friday
went to Sentosa with my family to try out the Luge..(most people won't know the proper name of the ride.. they just call it the zoom-zoom thing or something..) know the sled-like thing you sit on as you speed downhill? there was a chairlift too, to bring people and the karts back up hill.. the system they have there was effecient, had conveyor belts and stuff.. the staff only need to get the karts out for the customers?
was quite easy to control, just pull the handle back and release slightly to go forward, pull back to brake.. steer like you would on a bicycle, except you don't have to lean or anything.. was fun, but really felt it could be longer.. the track I mean, a km would be nice..
after the gravity-propelled trip down, it was time to get up again.. the chairlift(my father keeps calling it the liftchair..) ride up was fun..
feels like your floating thru the air cause its just a simple lap restraint.. the view wasn't really spectatcular or anything, the sea and the beach was behind and the trees under your feet.. used to be afraid of heights when I was very young, guess you grow bolder as you grow older.. got back where we start and me and me brother took another ride down again.. although its far from thrilling as a rollercoaster, but its still worth another ride..
got a look at the prices while my father bought the tickets.. $8?? think its alittle overated for such a ride.. after all, its basically a giant slide where you can control your direction and speed.. think you can get the same thrills for free by cycling to the top of a hill and zooming down again, just that you need to use your own strength to get up to the top..
when are they gonna build a real rollercoaster in Singapore?? the one at escape is just a kiddie ride..
Saturday
went to my cousin's house for a buffet today.. my other relatives were also there, those I don't get to see often.. grandfather's brother's side...

they also have a dog, a husky.. think he has grown since the last time I visited.. oh yea and thats my grandfather playing with him.. my grandfather kinda likes dogs.. maybe its because he's name is ah kow(which is translates to dog)? really, check his IC..
anyway, had the buffet at about 7.. even with the 35+ people in the house, there's still alot alot of space left.. wonder how the 4 of them (5 including the maid) live in such a big house.. there's hardly enough room when people come and visit my house for CNY..
went back about 11 after watching School of Rock on his plasma TV..
Sunday
me brother's birthday tomorrow, so went to eat at Crystal Jade.. nothing much special there.. brought along my camera, thought maybe could take some pic but in the end didn't.. the pics from the prev day was still there so print the above pic at the Fujifilm outlet nearby.. the print was well worth the 50cent, was like nothing I've printed myself before.. can't really comment on the colour cause the source pic wasn't really colourful.. but it was very clear.. maybe I would load some of my best pics onto a memory card and print them..
as a great photographer once said: "if the negative is equivalent to a composer's score, then its print is the performance"

went to the Botanical Gardens today.. have never been to the botanical gardens before, my mom said she brought be there once when I was a baby, how was I suppose to remember?? consulted streetdirectory.com.sg for the way there.. didn't knew that there was a direct bus..
brought along the book I bought a week ago to read on the way there, Polar Shift by Clive Cussler.. had the whole 2nd deck of the 165 to myself, wished SBS provided better seats, maybe a sofa, haha.. that wouldn't be economically feasible would it?
roughly knew where to alight, somewhere near St Marg's.. as usual, followed my instinct and memory.. it wasn't the main entrance or anything, just a small path into the gardens.. just walked around the gardens, enjoyed the tranquility.. except for a few tourist and 1 or 2 families, there wasn't much people there..
brought my camera to do some shooting, so head for the National Orchid Garden.. the walk there was like any other park in Singapore.. nothing much new.. then stumbled upon the recently launched display/preview of next year's Garden Festival.. took some pics of the flowers there..

Roses are red, violets are blue..
nice eh? its no wonder roses are so popular.. some shots I took were kinda blurry, without flash and all.. OIS would be helpful in this case..
was walking pass the heliconias when I heard a pop sound.. like the sound you get when pop those small plastic bags which hold your chili when you buy chicken rice.. then saw something flying down from above.. just witnessed Chapter 20 in action, dispersal via explosive mechanism.. think it was an angsana tree, can't be sure..
reached the orchid gardens at about 5.. drank my outrageously expensive cup of pepsi and got my free pass in.. they were having some special school holiday promotion, students get in free.. yar, and it cost $1 normally... haha.. nothing much I haven't seen before..
the VIP orchid part was rather interesting.. they named hybrids after VIPs who visited the gardens..

this one was named after Margaret Thatcher, then PM of the UK? nice.. love the twisting petals, looks like macoroni to me..
there was also the Cool-House.. showcasing the moutainous plants.. inside was really cooling, and the smell of the greenary really makes you feel like you are in the high mountains.. complete with a gushing waterfall.. if only my camera had a slow shutter mode, then could create the smoky water effect.. magical, would really love to go there someday.. didn't really want to leave the cool-house.. was just too cooling, much much better than any air-con.. (even though it was basically a glass-house with air-con..)
but the orchid gardens wouldn't be complete without the orchid that every Singaporean knows..

Vanda Miss Joaquim herself.. a slightly whiter version, but all the nicer..
went pass Swan Lake on the way to getting out.. can guess why its called Swan Lake.. a pair of white swans in the lake.. there was also a cygnet on the island in the middle of the lake, looks like the pair's doing very well.. (btw a cygnet's a young swan)
so after the much enriching "bio lesson", went to Suntec to eat.. thought would get something to eat at the World Food Fair, maybe some european cuisine... yar, but all I found there can be found elsewhere in Singapore?? they shouldn't call it WORLD Food Fair, the most was sushi?? so ended up at KFC.. read another few chapters on the train home..

just came back from our farewell party.. though we offically "expired" on M8, but this was something the band organises annually for its graduating batch. nothing really much happened, compared to the previous 3 farewell parties.. but we weren't the batch leaving then were we.. somehow, I feel glad to be out of band, maybe its the deproving standard of discipline and music after we left...
anyway, there was a barbeque for us.. the OM people were also having a bbq at the school's bbq pit, so had ours at the D & T block?? set up the fire in those aluminium trays on bricks.. had 4 fires going on, but the area for you to bbq on is kinda small? maybe about the size of an A3 piece of paper.. the "food production" rate was kinda slow, in the end only ate 2 pieces of chicken wings.. sometimes I wish the teachers would plan the bbq properly, like getting more pits rather than getting more chicken wings.. about every year it was like that, alot of leftover wings..
at least the cake was nice..

the graduating batch
called all the sec 4s in to take some pics before eating the cake.. a delicious black-forrest cake with the words "Farewell to our beloved Sec 4s and 5. We will miss you guys." notice 5 is singular? cause theres only 1 sec 5, Sean.. but not everyone was present in the pic.. missing people like Saiful, Timothy, Jonathan, Gerald Tan, OYL and Joel..
after the photo taking, it was time to cut the cake.. haven't seen a bunch of people getting so excited over a cake before..

its dead already
looks like they are going to kill the cake.. in the end, people ended up with cream in their hair and face.. haha, but we all enjoyed the cake.. played some songs till about 11, then went home.. was rather hungry, so walked with KC to Hougang Mall to find something to eat.. think all the stores were closed except Cheers? bought lou mai gai (gluttinous rice chicken) and ginger beer, then went to KC's block there to eat.. talked about stuff.. at least I know that there's somebody that can hold a serious conversation with me..
