quite a busy week with lessons officially starting this week.. feels like more than a week though.. time table not really that nice though, more 2 breaks in a day but breaks now are mostly half an hour.. still prefer the odd and even week system of CJC..
thought of joining student council at first, but had much thought about it and decided not to.. sorry Angie.. Wed had to wear tie, the uniform looks rather good with the tie on than without.. without tie like so plain.. assembly in the afternoon, another talk about blood donation.. just slightly squirmish just thinking of blood, guess I won't be a doctor/surgeon next time.. then went to the band room.. the teachers introduced themselves etc.. had a buffet at the canteen.. no, its not a brand of clarinet, but food?

the buffet..
didn't really know anybody from band, so ate together as a section and just chatted.. maybe should have stayed for longer and know more people, but had to rush off for photographic society meeting.. they having a programme with SA on sat, which is tomorrow? some sorta amazing race event.. check back tomorrow..
then went out with the class on thurs, our earliest day.. Ivan came again and joined us.. went to AMK to play pool.. like only us and another group of people there.. they went to KBox and LAN later, so went off first.. a torrential rain had started by the time we reached Jubilee.. they went to play LAN and I went to Popular to buy some stuff.. not bad for our first CT outing..
then also had band today till 7plus.. hiaz, though NY clarinets much better, the band as a whole doesn't sound very good.. need more saxophones though.. I know we're just getting to know each other and we'll improve with time, but it didn't really leave a good impression on me.. doesn't feel like a JC band yet..
quite alot of things on my mind.. fears etc.. well, one of my fears, is the fear of being just average.. which I fear may come through.. don't wanna be another cookie cutter, 9-5 till I'm 95, person..

while other JCs are having their lessons already, we had Level Camp and Orientation 2!! was in 0621 and coincidentally, the 1T24 ppl who stayed in cjc were in 1T21 now..
Tues and Wed was the level camp.. somewhat like a bonding, motivation programme.. though I've been through something similar in Empower U, this was a totally different experience for me.. did some activities like the trust fall and the spider web.. dunno if others see it, but these are just some metaphors for the ordeal we go through in life.. well, first was the trust fall... had never done it before though I had a vague idea of what was it.. put that aside and just went for it.. volunteered myself first as I said I would be the first in the next activity we do.. my CT group formed a circle around me and I was to make a choice, whether to not go, to go for it, or to go with blindfold.. took a breath in and said, "Blindfold!" just decided to take the chance and put complete trust into my classmates, though we only known each other for 2 days, after all I would be spending the next 2 years with them.. stumbled on the leg of the chair as I was being led.. my buddy asked whether I was ok and we continued on.. standing on the stack of 7 chairs, could feel the height of it.. so just leaned back and fell..
my mind was like blank when I was falling, haven't felt this calm relaxing feeling for sometime.. only to be jolted back when they caught me.. I really dunno, but I got this feeling that if I did this activity with my secondary school class.. there would be very different results.. not just because 4E1 had more "heavier" people, but I don't really sense the trust and unity in the class.. didn't feel that my friends would be there behind me when I fall..
the next activity was quite a long one.. had to get everybody across this web of strings and not touching any of the strings, if not had to start all over again.. could only go over the strings, and its like slightly above waist level, so you can't do it alone.. didn't get much results when we first started, wasted like an hour plus trying the stepping method.. then one of the facilitators came to speak to us... gave us a challenge to get 7 people in the web, from then on, things started to pick up.. got our technique right already, by carrying people into the web first, then those people ferry the rest over.. erm, saw some things that shouldn't be seen when we were carrying the girls over.. just leave it at that..
one of the learning points about this activity was to be aware of your surroundings... made me think about an incident just after the prelims.. only told a few people about it.. was one of the lowest points in my life where I actually cried.. just feel like nobody cared for me at that point of time.. I could just walk out of class after receiving my paper and nobody would notice I was gone.. anyway, enough of that..
then it was Orientation 2 on Thurs and Friday.. Thurs not much happened.. had some games, learnt mass dance.. their mass dance was more aerobics than dance.. had punches, jabs, jumping etc.. Min Jun was also in my class.. seen her before in cjc and during the first week in ny, but didn't know her name at that time.. anyway, she was telling me how much nicer cj mass dance was..
anyway, Friday was much better.. brought my camera, so took some pics..

0621!

Pizza!

and the highlight of Friday..

Disco Night!

Alfred and Yu Bin..

even Jason's having fun..
even though the hall's air-conditioned, sweated alot due to all the jumping about.. the mass dance was great, though tiring.. partnered with Michelle and danced like there's no tomorrow.. after it all ended, the whole class went out together... went to 7-11 first to get some drinks.. dancing is tiring work you know.. then went to a nearby playground to chat.. chatted till about 9 plus.. Michelle was going to the same bus stop, so walked with her to the bus stop.. turns out we scored the exact same pts for prelims and O levels.. and SA was her first choice also.. another weird coincidence..

another holiday wasted... probably the only thing interesting about this "holiday" was Friday and Sat.. and maybe Tues..
went to the preliminary round of the 5th National Scrabble Championship at Northland Sec.. still can remember the 1st one at woodlands library when I was only sec 1.. met some familar faces from other schools such as Marsling and Bedok South.. the school compound looks quite new, with a glass-roofed entrance area..
1st game was the attempt to break the world record for Most Simulataneous Games of Scrabble at one time? of course its much better being involved in that record than just watching it for an hour... so kinda helped out the CSC section of the event.. Addison was there helping out also..

there were sections A to S I think and each section have think 9 pairs of schools playing against each other and there are 5 players in each team, so go do the maths.. basically, the CSC section (think CSC stands for Civil Service Club if I'm not wrong) were made up from teams from HDB, IRAS etc.. Kelvin was in the combined schools team playing with the auto qualifying team from Marsling.. met Jocelyn at the registration area there.. she was also helping out.. Jill came during the interval.. gave me and Joel Chua from Marsling a little tour around the school.. kinda funny seeing how Jill and Joel interact.. him teasing her like "you're so feminine and stuff.. and you look like you actually have boobs.." sorta like a little brother??
hang out at the library during the second game.. went back to help out for the 3rd game.. hiaz.. wonder why I do such things.. at least Addy got a little gift from Mr Tan, the Scrabble Association person, for his efforts..
went back to the library.. Joel was like leaning on Jill's tummy and saying how comfy it was?? he should try Addy's one, more "cushion" hahaa.. went to Causeway Point for awhile.. she was going to find her bf so left after that..

been a real busy for the past 2 days.. with events lined up back to back.. CJC's rockafella, sports day, carnival and concert..

Friday
had a 3 hour break after the SPA briefing.. so went to the grandstand to kill time after having eaten.. Ming Wei called SA to check on his appeal.. dunno why he was given a appeal number and I wasn't.. was kinda what he expected it to turn out.. not sucessful.. there were also some other Cedar Girls at the grandstand there.. dunno if we heard wrong or were they really so happy that their appeal to SA wasn't successful? weird...
went to the Library to have a look see since we have so much time.. if you didn't know, you could easy mistaken it for the national library.. very modern and comfy..then went home to get my clothes after chinese lecture..
was running late already, so took a taxi there... told the taxi driver Nanyang JC.. he drove on for about 2mins then realised I wanted to go to NYJC not NYP... erm.. think he watched a certain video too much already.. hahaa.. anyway, he resetted the meter and I got there just in time.. seeing them perform on wed, I some sort knew what to expect already.. lets just say there's quite a difference in a Gold with Honours/Gold band and a Silver band.. coincidentally, they are also playing 1st Suite in Eb.. one of the few songs where a Eb clarinet is quite important..
changed into outside clothes and was just about to walk out of the college when the security guard stopped me.. thought he was gonna question me or something, but he just said "Hey boy... Bye..." that put a smile on my face as I walked out..
then took 105 to CJC's Rock cum Charity Concert, Rockafella or The Rockafella Skank 2 as it is officially known.. met Janis at the bus stop and it was 6.30pm already... all this was quite impromtu, so I was quite lucky that I met Andrea there and bought the ticket from her friend.. first time not seeing her in a pinafore.. met Carmen there also.. passed her some pics I printed out.. sat with Andrea and her other friends.. quite squeezy with all the chairs so close to each other..

the crowd rocking with the band infront..
quite ironic with bible phrases at the sides and a rock band rocking in the middle.. thats what you call juxtaposition.. most of the songs they played I've never heard before.. guess I don't listen to rock much.. maybe Holiday by Greenday and I Don't Want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith I've heard before.. they even made Canon in D into rock.. haha.. other than that, I'm a rock concert virgin..
for more pics, you can visit this link.. http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=183072
Andrea had to go off early so I was left alone yet again.. went to Toa Payoh to eat as I haven't had anything to eat since lunch.. plonked onto bed almost immediately when I got home..

Saturday
had about 6 hours of sleep before I woke up.. didn't really feel like going out so early in the morning.. so took some time to start up my "engine" (think Brands essence of chicken ad), so my dad fetched my bro there first.. took 147 there myself..
met Joel Koh and some others there.. so basically just went back to my alma mater to help them out... first time for me covering a sporting event.. so I'll let the pictures do the talking...

the morning sun...

nervousness

a close finish

hurry, hurry...

a burst of speed

emotions..

met many of my old teachers there.. Mr Low, Mrs Tan-sin, Mr Tan aka Sgt Geok, Mr Llyod Yeo, just to name a few.. btw, if you didn't know there's 4 houses, Majella, Proulx, Gonzaga and Berthomieu.. they had the mass participation event next.. basically, its just get everybody to jog/walk one round around the track..

Majella

was talking with Mrs Tan-sin when she asked me to participate in the novelty race.. "You're an old boy right?? Come come, not enough people.." so just joined 3 other old boys and formed a team.. competed with the staff team, pcg team etc.. erm, technically I'm part of the school alumni already, though it was just last year?? so was the youngest there..

basically, it was a rely race, had to carry a bottle of water and not spill too much water along the way.. came in 2nd, not that bad for an impromtu thing..
ending off any sports day is of course the prize presentation ceremony..

the prized posessions

Mr Simon handing out the indiviudal trophies..

and the overall champion for sports day 2006...

Gonzaga!

then went with Joel to St. Nick's carnival.. didn't know the carnival existed till about 10am when he told me?? so another impromtu thing.. Addison called while I was shooting.. turns out he was there also and wanted me to come to take some pics.. met him there, but that person whom he refuses to tell me who she is, has already left.. coincidentally met Janis yet again...
saw someone wearing my class T-Shirt queueing up for something.. it was Alfred and the rest.. didn't know they were going out today.. Keck passed me some coupons they haven't used.. they had been here for some time, and I had just arrived.. so with Bernard accompanying me, we went to spend off that $10.. bought a drink, sausages and curry chicken to share.. didn't eat breakfast, so was quite hungry.. followed them to have lunch, but didn't have the appetite to have a full meal, so just bought a glass of sugar cane juice and 2 pieces of you tiao..
then had to rush back home to bathe.. met Wen Shao, Aaron, Jonathan, Sherman and Louis.. first time going for a concert that starts so early.. usually concerts start at around 7, but Polka III starts at 5.30..

St Marg's band had grown quite alot since the exchange we had 2 years back.. 2 bass clarinet, 3 bassoon? 18 clarinets? like cover 1/3 then that would be our band size... they played some pieces that we have played also.. like English Folksong Suite, An American Elegy.. oh yea, also need to pay a dollar for their programme booklet? to think that last time we printed so many and give out.. calendar style binding somemore..
Louis, being the rich guy that he is, brought out his $3000 HD videocam.. I think he can compete with the official videographer already... Jeanna and March came to the circle seats after the 1st half.. it was still bright outside during the intermission, normally it would be dark already.. Jeanna kinda lost her voice already after all that screaming for encore etc..
went to Marina Square to eat after the concert.. then played pool with Wen Shao and Jonathan till bout 10.30.. been a tiring 2 days..

so instead of wearing a blue t-shirt to school today and taking 153... was back to wearing my school uniform... feels great to wear the Montfort shirt again, but then again won't be able to do that after next week...
my father fetched me to NYJC in the morning.. first impression of the school was.. "wah.. damn nice.." the campus architecture was nice and modern... the composition of the student population also very different... hardly see any pinafores and white pants... more mix of green, blue and grey.. so after the "short" speech by the principal, it was straight away lectures? I mean if I was a student staying in NY, I wouldn't mind.. but for a 2nd intake student and more so for those who never been to a JC before.. its intimidating..
even Jason seemed less noisy than normal.. Maths lecture was about inequalities.. the lecturer was like, as Jason says, barking like a dog.. I mean, how can she expect 600 students to settle down so quickly, some their first time in a LT? then walked with Gerald and Mingwei around the campus.. Mingwei like every few minutes he'll meet someone he knows.. good for him.. then had physics and econs lecture in the hall.. went with Jason and his other 2 friends for lunch... really hope my appeal to SA goes through..

well, friday was the last day of term 1... whole of singapore would have known their posting results.. met Andrea at Hougang Interchange.. kinda crazy I know, but she called me at night last night to ask me to help her buy a cake? since I was free anyway, went to Hougang Mall to buy a mango cake.. $19.80.. so took the bus together.. probably the last time I'll be able to do that..
met Janice and Charmaine at the bus stop... everyone was checking their posting results at the computers at the foyer area, so there was a big crowd there.. so thought I would check during the break.. the anxiety crept in..
turns out that Eric checked out all our posting cause the class list has all our IC no... got posted to NYJC?? kinda expected that to happen, know how fate always likes to be against me.. maybe should have put CJ infront of NY..
anyway, not much teaching going on for chem.. returned us our CA papers.. got 27/30.. not too bad.. though can't beat Eric's 30/30... dunno who he copy from lor.. hahaa.. brought my Today in History book.. trying to as many people to sign on their birthdays.. sorta my autograph/birthday book.. then whole class pon all the lectures after that.. went to the grandstand to take some pics..

though many are not present in this pic.. this may be the closest to the last class picture we'll have.. others also brought their cameras to school.. feel kinda akward with everyone bringing ultraslim/stylish cameras and me with my S2.. then went to shoot some basketball action with the usual basketball people.. Charmaine and Linda also joined then..

Rommel and Marcus doing some hang time..
recieved a call from Addison asking me to come to the library to help him.. he got posted to Innova but wants to appeal to CJC.. so he brought all his necessary documents and needed to photocopy them.. since I have slightly more than 5 credits in my photocopy card, so helped him out.. of course that single word in his CCA records would greatly help him.. "President"

Addy nervously waiting for his turn...
checked my posting at the com on my way back to the grandstand.. and sure enough, Nanyang Junior College was stated there.. got back to the grandstand to watch more people playing soccer.. joined some of my other classmates later on and played with another class.. though I don't play much soccer, the scoreline wasn't that bad.. won by 1 goal to none..
then there was some comotion at some steps up, so went to see what it was about..

so thats why the girls were so squirmish about..
kinda cute what, though the claws are abit sharp?

wanna hold it?
so attended Mr Yee's class after all the ponning.. gonna miss Mr Yee, he's quite the opposite of Mr Low, though also damn pro in maths, but he's more fun-loving and not that serious... didn't really teach as so little people in the class.. helped us do some research on the various JCs on his laptop, also went to our various secondary school websites..
there was a large crowd gathering at the foyer, checking their IG groups and stuff.. tried to spot some familar names but couldn't.. can't remember who asked me what IG group I was in, Yvonne I think.. only to realise I wasn't posted back... got more signatures in my book and rushed back home..
gathered all the documents I needed.. O levels results slip, CCA records, Leaving Cert etc.. and headed for SA.. gotta thank Dave for his detailed instructions on how to get there, though I could have figured it out myself.. but that would take some time, which I don't have.. the campus was rather nice, though not as modern-looking as NY.. filled in that pink form, attached my photocopied result slip and CCA records and hoped for the best.. hopefully can get through, their cut-off point being 9 and I got 9 and put SA as 1st choice.. of course my slip of paper would look much nicer if another line "Staff Sergeant, 2005" was added instead of just 1st for 04 and 05... I really hope its not because of this that I didn't get through..
rushed back home and packed my stuff for the chalet.. reached Pasir Ris at about 7.30 and was treated to a awesome "twilight" sky... of course if I had reached there before 7, I'm sure I'll catch the sunset..

the twilight zone..
played some soccer at the court there.. kinda dark, so can't see really well.. the stars came out when it got darker.. quite impressive for a local night sky.. then the rest of the people came and we started the bbq... there were only us and another group of people barbequeing there..
played frisbee and ball while they were starting the fire..

Kevin showing some of his skills..

the BBQ
as usual with BBQs.. I didn't get to eat much, though there was plenty for everone.. they also bbq-ed some sausages... those thick kinds and you know what lewd innuendo comes up... you can go imagine what was said...
then helped Kamalesh celebrate his birthday... he's birthday's actually on Sunday, but he's not staying overnight.. and after that he's in SA already...

the impromtu "cake"

who says you can't have your cake and eat it too...

hey, what are you doing with my cake?

nooo...!
they didn't really smash the "cake" at Kamalesh though... they turned their sights to Jason and the chase began... knowing how fast he can run, he eventually got some "cake" on his back..
so continued with the bbq while some had to leave already... Rommel was like gobbling chicken wings as if he had never eaten for days... think Daphne put alochol in the chicken or something, he became damn high after that.. hahaa...
decided to get some stuff from Cheers, so walked together there.. luckily the park was deserted, if not what would people think when they see a bunch of guys and girls singing while they walked... on bicycle, downtown east doesn't seem very far from Pasir Ris park.. but walking there sure did.. sorta mini-hike there by itself.. got some Ginger Beer and a bar of Milkway with Almonds.. the gals bought some magazines such as Teenage, Seventeen etc.. sat by the beach while on our way back... not much sand to sit on as its high tide already, so kinda risky sitting there.. played some songs on my K750i and it became sorta sing-a-long.. hahaa... funny seeing how Daphne raps while we were walking back.. so spent 2+ hrs just to get some stuffs..
played tai ti when we got back.. went to sleep quite early after such a tiring day... then gotten woken up halfway by Qiuwen's singing... dunno what exactly happened, was half asleep at that time, but seemed to me like Qiuwen was jumping around the guys room trying to wake us up with her "singing".. then went back to sleep after that.. got woken up yet again, but this time from my phone's alarm.. thought of catching the sunrise but ended up sleeping outside on the couch.. was the first one to rise when morning came.. took a short walk to the beach to relax abit since the rest were still asleep.. drew some meaningless scribbles on the sand..
the rest eventually woke up by 10... they also went to the beach while Alfred and Jocelyn went to White Sands to buy something to eat..

what's that in the sky?!?
so had our sea-view breakfast and went back to the chalet.. while walking back, I noticed my lens hood was missing.. strange, I remembered placing it into my bag when we came out.. went back to look but didn't find it.. then traced my steps to see whether if I had dropped it.. when it seemed that I've lost a $30 piece of plastic, it appeared infront of me on the grass.. phew..
went back to watch the Incredibles VCD they rented.. find that Alfred and Jocelyn getting more intimate with each other.. think I now know why he got 7pts and wants to stay in CJC...
wanted to cycle, but nobody else wanted to accompany me.. so cycled alone for an hour.. it would be fun to ride those 2 seater tandem bikes... the only person I've ridden with is my bro? came back and had a quick shower before we packed our stuff and left.. went to Tampines Mall to eat and catch a movie.. Big Momma's House 2... except for sitting in the first row, the movie was great..
feels like end of last year again.. though it only has been 2 months, we really bonded as a class... I don't think I would be able to find another class like 1T24.. thanks for making these 2 months so memorable..

"A" levels result released today, so we had no school cause they have to process the results and all that.. first such "holiday"..
so decided to do a walkabout.. asked quite a few people to accompany me, but all not free.. with work, meeting with friends, going Sentosa.. so alone as usual.. first stop was Little Guilin.. took the MRT from YCK to Bukit Gombak.. was already noon by the time I got there and the sun was beating down hard.. had never been to this part of Singapore in my life, so just trusted my intuition and headed off.. before long, reached the granite formations..

other than the blazing hot sun, it doesn't feel like singapore at all.. feels more like some place in China or something.. walked back to the MRT station and bought myself a drink..took the MRT again towards Jurong East and changed to the EW line.. so after travelling like half of the system, arrived at Paya Lebar.. some F16s were flying quite low, think they're landing at Paya Lebar airbase or something.. my dad used to work there, now working at Changi Airbase.. took 43 and alighted at VJC there..
walked over the overhead bridge to East Coast Park.. quite empty compared to the weekend crowd it sees..

a hard day's work..
saw a couple of cats at where they keep the boats and stuff.. then more appeared, seems like the fishermen returned and are sharing some of their extras with the cats.. this particular cat was kind enough to just stay there and pose even though I was quite near to it..

of cats..

and dogs..
to my suprise, there was also a dog sitting nearby.. dunno whether its someone's pet or its wild cause there's nobody else there.. there were also many dog owners taking their dogs out for a walk there.. starting to sound like your primary school "A day in the park" essay huh..
for something more exciting, there was a couple of people doing wave boarding there.. (is that what they call it??) but how high can a wave in Singapore get? nonetheless, they did some awesome stunts..

nice air..
saw some vjc students jogging while on my way out.. hiaz.. wished I was in vjc.. messaged Jill whether she wanna go eat Carl's Jr since she would be working in town area and I have a pair of vouchers for that..36 to Suntec was quite fast, going along the ECP expressway.. tried the new House of the Dead 4 game at the arcade there.. harder to play with just one person though.. it was game over even before I got to the boss..
Jill had to pass something to her uncle, so had to turn me down.. then went to Harbourfront to see whether I can meet Janice.. yet another disappointment.. continued on to Labrador Park for the sunset anyhow.. 408 didn't operate on weekdays, so took the nearest bus and walked in.. and was it a long walk.. took about 15 mins to reach the park.. of course it would take less than 5 if you went in by car..

the sunset was nothing to "wah" about.. a gloomy end to the day.. was already getting dark by the time I started to walk back.. even though the path was lighted, I really didn't want it to get too dark, so hurried abit.. got back to Harbourfront and got myself a bowl of ban mian at the Seah Im food centre..
another typical day out alone..
