not much to blog about these past few days... Monday was results day.. spent the afternoon checking papers.. results only average at most.. can confidently say that I passed all my subjects, except for chinese which I don't have much confindence in.. gotta really brush up.. suprisingly got highest in the class for physics.. thought Ping Chong would be highest or something, but still can't compare to his insane
92/100 for Maths! the maths paper wasn't difficult, but then didn't really score..
then Tuesday was the SGC talk.. what to write and what to include in the cert etc.. was in the band room cleaning out my instrument.. the pad for the D#/A# key came off a few times during practice, so decided to fix it.. then tried to play, can't play the lower half notes.. turns out I didn't put the pad properly back, then had a leak.. adjusted abit and it was fine.. also saw a glimpse of our SYF piece.. probably playing Songs of Sailor and Sea for the overseas trip..
got to the hall only to find Angie there.. the rest of the class went to J8 to eat I think, and they weren't here yet.. there was an obvious gap between 20 and 22, with only 2 of us occupying the entire row.. then they all came at one go, hoping no one would notice.. hahaa.. talked about contract players for the asthetic groups for next year's SYF.. we really need more flautist and a tenor saxophonist.. other than that the balance quite fine, more percussion would also be nice.. for the SGC probably would include SYPA, the Virtual Tour, SYF..
Friday was the OP rehearsal.. went to Jin Hao's house the previous day to do the OP.. did the intro video to our project.. think the layout also need to change, abit too plain.. lotsa learning points for everyone.. NY 100 was presenting in the middle so we had some time to do some last minute adjustments.. there was an announcement for all the STs to go for a meeting halfway through the last group's presentation.. quite disappointing for them, having to wait till the rest had finished, then their presentation was reluctant to load and not gaining any feedback.. probably would do another rehearsal in the following week I guess..
then sight-read
Grandfather Clock Variations during practice.. starts off with the original melody with the clarinets with euphonium.. ya, its the same tune from My Grandfather's Clock you used to hear when you were young.. then the variations, clarinets had a fair bit of running notes.. like how it ends though, climaxes to a certain point then suddenly cuts.. and the ending of the original melody is heard by the Oboe, then goes into a vivace part with the clarinets doing a run at the end.. quite typical japanese type of ending.. needs quite abit of work though..
