haven't been blogging for awhile.. promos ended on Wed with Physics paper 2, which was er, not easy to say the least.. anyway the class, or rather 1/3 of the class were planning to go to Pulau Ubin to cycle on Thurs.. had photog meeting so could only join them in the later part of the day..
woke up only at 11.45 and suppose to have the meeting at 10.. so rushed to school, luckily only 10mins late.. discussed about the open house with the teachers.. having a digital photography competition which we have to organise..
Mr Neo also bought some new lenses.. 17-50, 28-75 and a 90 macro which has yet to come.. all constant 2.8 apertures and the quality much much better than the kit lens we used to use.. can get very lovely blurred backgrounds..
had a set of clothing in my locker from the day before.. thought they were going out after the papers but didn't so kept them there.. didn't have time to bath before coming out of the house so made use of the showers.. took the entire full trip of 109, terminal to terminal.. haven't been to Pulau Ubin before but had some idea of how to get there.. been to changi village area quite a number of times so knew where the ferry terminal was.. think they just renovated the terminal, quite new..

realised that my S80 had no batts inside it when I tried to take some pics.. left the batt in the charger and didn't take it out.. the batts on my S2 also died.. luckily I kept spare batts for both cams in my bag.. if not so wasted..
the bumboat ride there was, er bumpy.. think the vibrations were still ringing in my head even when I got off the boat.. there were quite a number of people on board.. got a couple of people asked to help them take some pics for them, think its because they see me carrying a tripod and all that.. a caucasian father and son pair with a high-tech PDA-cameraphone and a chinese couple with a film camera..

wanted to go to Ubin since long ago, but didn't have a chance.. would be quite dangerous if I went alone, probably could get lost.. first thing I noticed was the dramatic contrast between Ubin and mainland Singapore.. the rustic, laid back feeling just oozes everywhere..
lotsa small crabs on the beach near the jetty.. the male one has a oversized right claw, which is quite prominent.. you won't notice the females unless they move cos its really camouflaged with the sand.. quite a number of dogs and cats roaming around too..
the rest came not long after.. rented a bike and followed them..

Michelle and Jibin were leading the way.. quite different from the usual time we see her in school, most of the time she's quiet and reserved.. cycled for quite awhile.. quite thrilling, like some expedition to the unknown..
we were cycling towards Chek Jawa when we encountered some steep slopes.. I went first, by CoE, GPE + KE at top = GPE + KE at bottom, (ya I know, physics) and some KE it was.. but it wasn't enough to make it up a slightly higher slope, so got down and pushed.. Angie, Michelle and Ji Bin came not longer after I came down from my bike.. we were half-way up the slope when we noticed the rest were not following behind us.. so stopped our bikes there.. Angie and Michelle went back to see what's going on.. so left me and Ji Bin behind with the bikes.. so while waiting for them, we fed dunno how many mosquitoes and enjoyed the aromatic smoke from the vehicles going pass us..
called them to check on them, heard Tricia's voice in the background and I knew something bad had happened.. just don't like the feeling of not knowing whats going on and doing nothing about it.. went back to see what was going on when Angie and Michelle returned.. turns out there was a small mishap, Yuan Ting fell down and had some scratches.. walked back to where we started..

went to catch the sunset first before joining back.. they were having some coconuts, the eight of them just nice fill up the table, leaving little space for me.. just feel neglected sometimes, the warm welcoming feeling starts to fade after awhile.. its like them in their own world and me just overlapping.. think the same can be said for the rest of my friends.. if you could draw a Venn diagram of my friends you'll probably see lotsa big circles and me, the overlapping portion of these circles..

tried the silky water effect with a long exposure.. can't really get the slow shutter speed that I wanted even though its at lowest ISO and smallest aperture..
got back to mainland Singapore, then the group spilt into 2.. one group following Yuan Ting to see a doc and the other going to eat.. went to meet up with Sarah and Sok Hua at Marina Bay, they've been waiting for 2 hours there already? went to glutton's bay at Esplanade to eat.. more of supper than dinner already..
