not much time to blog considering the amount of events I have on during this "holiday".. back-tracking lotsa events..
had our first annual band dinner at the Phonix Hotel at Somerset.. on the 28th, the evening immediately after the LTC, so factor in the tiredness, waking up later syndrome.. it turns out just nice.. met the ad-hoc committee in the band room at 2 plus.. made the measurements for the intrument cases for the thailand trip and tested my printer out.. works fine, though the cropping not really perfect cos theres 2 edges you can tear off..
didn't follow the ad-hoc committee cos had to settle the rentals.. was suppose to return today, but seeing I can't, had to extend to the next day..
the theme of the dinner was Tropical, but not everyone dressed up accordingly..

the place was rather classy.. though not the impressive grand ballroom kind.. had a function room all to ourselves.. (though I think its actually only half a room) just nice fits everybody in, less roomy than I would liked.. Annie and Huan Yi were the "receptionists", they also made door-gifts for everyone too.. only took some pics while they were making it, didn't take the completed ones.. anyway, its a bookmark with string instruments.. literally string instruments, as in they used string to create the outline of the different instruments and pasted them on black boards cut to size.. complete with plastic lamination and colourful string..
Our Principal, Mr Kwek arrived early, even before some of the teachers came.. he was quite impressive and donated a extra lucky draw gift to the pile.. partly cos we were the first CCA to have such a dinner and invited him? he was also quite sporting during the whole dinner, made the effort to chat with some of the J1s and of course J2s.. he also took table shots with all the tables, which of course I had to cover.. printed them out on my portable photo printer to give as some tokens of appreciation..

of course no dinner would be complete without.. Food!! didn't manage to really eat alot, cos after my second serving it was already the speech and games portion.. Mr Kwek gave a speech first, can't really recall what was it about already.. then the teachers-in-charge, followed by Kok Wey and Wei Ming.. can see that they really prepared for their speeches..
then it was the presentation of certificates.. very nicely done, I would prouldly frame it up in my house if I recieved one.. Wei Jie was the first lucky draw winner.. well, it wasn't your ordinary lucky draw, after picking a number the "winner" has to draw some lots to determine what "prize" he/she would get.. and 2 of them were forfeits.. guess what, Wei Jie got the forfeit.. 1st isn't always lucky.. he had to catwalk across the room, which frankly wasn't even convincing.. Daryl's rendition of it was more convincing.. moved his forearm like the "fa cai mao" or good fortune cat.. one of those you moments that make you wanna bang your head against the wall..

the Uno game was more interesting.. there were randomly put numbered Uno cards under the chairs and you had to form groups totalling up to the given number, if not you are eliminated.. the easiest but least fun way to end the game is obviously to announce "1" as the number, so all the ppl holding 1s instantly win.. hahaa..
another game was the singing game, where tables had to come up with songs in a genre and sing them, the group that can't loses.. one of the genres was Singapore English Songs.. predicted that some group would sing "Di Tanjong Katong" and get eliminated cos they forgot thats a Malay song.. and I was right..

the ad-hoc..
had lotsa fun during the dinner.. enjoyed myself much more than any dinner I ever had.. other that me feeling slightly hungry again after the dinner, which is usually the case after dinners, the ad-hoc really did a wonderful job.. looking forward to next years, which the next year J1s must at least equal..
band supper anyone?
